Pultruded Epoxy Products Applications

Unsaturated polyester resin is the most common resin which is used in fiberglass pultruded products, and then epoxy resin. It is mainly used for products with high requirements on mechanical properties and heat resistance. Besides those two types of resin, vinyl ester resin, phenolic resin and  thermal plastic resin are also used during production. The resin requirements in pultrusion technology is: low viscosity, easy to saturate the reinforced material;  fast curing to adapt to the requirements of continuous forming production; good adhesion, curing shrinkage rate. Flexibility is good, the product is not easy to have cracks. Epoxy resin pultruded profiles are important type of glass fiber reinforced plastic material, and they have excellent strength properties.
Applications of fiberglass pultruded epoxy resin products:
1). Electrical engineering is the most widely used area currently, and it is very important development. Such as the transformer air catheter positioning rod, high voltage insulator core, high-voltage cable protection tube, cable rack, insulative ladder, insulating rod, pole, rail guard board, cable distributing frame, motor spare parts etc.

Types Of FRP Tubes

There are many types of fiberglass tubes, today we'll introduce three types of tubes from aspects of production process, cross sections and raw materials.
1. According to the production process, frp tubes can be divided into pultruded tubes, pulwinding tubes, filament winding tubes, roller, etc. Filament winding pipe is widely used in the pipeline, and it has the advantages of high transverse strength, longitudinal strength, the disadvantage is it can't be produced continuously. Mechanical Properties Of Glass Fiber

Pultrusion Resin For Fiberglass Windows And Doors

Fiberglass pultruded window and door profiles are not the same as many general FRP products, they have multi-cavity and very thin wall thickness. Today we'll talk about the basic requirements of the pultrusion resin for the multi-cavity and thin-walled profile in high speed production:
(1) high reactivity;
(2) high glass temperature;
(3) the speed of saturation should be as high as possible;
(4) the proper viscosity characteristic.
Low reactive resin has slow speed reaction, even in the pultrusion mold for very short residence time and is unable to complete curing reaction, cementitious area will be too long, production difficulties: to regulate the reaction activity of the matrix resin, selection of appropriate initiator or choose a variety of initiator trigger.
Isophthalic resin glass transition temperature is high, the gelation time is short and the gel strength is higher, easily impregnated fiber and moderate viscosity (500 ~ 600 centipoises), packing is not easy to sink, very suitable for production of multi cavity thin wall material with special shape.
In order to improve the pultrusion speed and shorten the time of gelation, we should use the multi - level initiating system caused by low temperature, medium temperature and high temperature so that the resin matrix can be initiated at a lower temperature. In order to guarantee the inner and outer resin matrix can simultaneously cure, eliminate the crack and the profile bending phenomenon due to the curing time of the inside and outside resin matrix, adopt this system. It can also shorten the time of gelation. To improve the strength of the gel, and reduce the occurrence of the accident rate. The surface quality of the profiles can be improved by improving the tension speed and increasing the degree of curing.

Carbon Fiber Material Characteristics

The Relationship Between Pultrusion And Molded Craft

In many different kinds of fiberglass products, it has the highest similarity between molding FRP grating and pultrusion product. It’s different from molded craft, while produce FRP grating by pultrusion technology. FRP pultrusion technology is a assembly by bars, but the molding craft is not. You get the only product ,while using the only mould.
The same features between mold craft and FRP pultrusin technology:
They are both the FRP production craft, also the product produced by those two ways can be combined. For example, when we install the operating platform, the key bars are FRP grating, but minor bars are pultrusion technology product, such as FRP  holder, FRP square tube and channel, bars and so on. In a word, the most similarity between them is supplement each other.
The differents features between molded craft and FRP pultrusin technology:
Relative to the similarity, the difference will be more.
1.The feature
pultrusion technology: fast production, easy operation, good variability(just change the mould, while produce the new production). As a result, the kind of pultrusion technology product is more than molding craft product.
Molded craft: the weakness is mainly aritificial operation, a waste of time, the mold can’t be changed, single product shape. But the advantage is stable property and durability.
2.Theory of production
Pultrusion technology product is produced by semi-automatic equipment, fast and easy operation, while the molding craft bars is made by aritificial operation, a waste of time and complex operation.
3. Usage
they have different range and occasion of usage. For example, FRP bridge is made of pultrusion technology bars, but fiberglass molded grating can’t achieve it.

Pultrusion Process Parameter Control Element

FRP Products Fire Retardant Standards

Some fiberglass pultruded profiles applications require the fire retardant property, and different fire retardant rates have different functions. Two types of North America and Europe fire retardant standards are listed below:
1. ASTM E 84 
It is standard test method for surface burning characteristics of of building materials. 
The flame spread index and smoke developed index values obtained by the ASTM E 84 test are used by code officials and regulatory agencies in the acceptance of interior finish materials for various applications. The most widely accepted classification system is described in the National Fire Protection Association publication NFPA 101 Life Safety Code 
1. 2006 International Building Code 
a. Section 803 Wall and Ceiling Finishes, Paragraph 803.1 General states, “Interior wall and ceiling finishes shall be classified in accordance with ASTM E- 84.Such interior finish materials shall be grouped in the following classes in accordance with their flame spread and smoke-developed indexes. 
i. Class A: Flame Spread 0-25; smoke-developed 0-450 ii. Class B: Flame Spread 26-75; smoke-developed 0-450 iii. Class C: Flame Spread 76-200; smoke-developed 0-450 
Class A,B, and C correspond to type I, II, and III respectively in other codes such as SBCCI, BOCA, ICBO. They do not preclude a material being otherwise classified by the authority of jurisdiction.
2. UL 94, the Standard for Safety of Flammability of Plastic Materials for Parts in Devices and Appliances testing is a plastics flammability standard released by Underwriters Laboratories of the USA.
The standard classifies plastics according to how they burn in various orientations and thicknesses. From lowest (least flame-retardant) to highest (most flame-retardant), the classifications are:
HB: slow burning on a horizontal specimen; burning rate < 76 mm/min for thickness < 3 mm and burning stops before 100 mm
V-2 burning stops within 30 seconds on a vertical specimen; drips of flaming particles are allowed.
V-1: burning stops within 30 seconds on a vertical specimen; drips of particles allowed as long as they are not inflamed.
V-0: burning stops within 10 seconds on a vertical specimen; drips of particles allowed as long as they are not inflamed.
5VB: burning stops within 60 seconds on a vertical specimen; no drips allowed; plaque specimens may develop a hole.
5VA: burning stops within 60 seconds on a vertical specimen; no drips allowed; plaque specimens may not develop a hole
Tests are generally conducted on a 5" x 1/2" (12.7 cm x 1.27 cm) specimen of the minimum approved thickness. For 5VA and 5VB ratings, tests are performed on both bar and plaque specimens, and the flame ignition source is approximately five times as severe as that used for testing the other materials.
There are other classifications that apply to low density foam materials (HF-1, HF-2, HBF) and thin films (VTM-0, VTM-1, VTM-2).
HF-1: burning stops within 2 seconds; afterglow less than 30s; no burning drips allowed.

Pultruded Gratings:
Pultruded FRP gratings are assembled by three parts:
Bearing profile: it is mainly composed of pultruded "I" or "T" profile.

Fiberglass Sheet Piles Information

Fiberglass pultruded composite piles include round/octagonal pipes and sheet piles. Round/octagonal pipes general diameters are from 8” to 14”, the length can be 4ft~20ft even 30ft.

FRP Pultruded Production Process Development And Applications

Release Agent Advantages And Selection In Pultrusion Process

The release agent in the pultrusion process has many advantages:
1.it's easily dispersed in the resin;
2.it will help clean pultrusion mould; 
3.to protect them against thecorrosion of metal mold; 
4.in reducing the resistance, reduce the pultrusion die loss andimprove the production efficiency; 
5.it can reduce the surface tension of resin mixture,reduce the viscosity of the resin, improve on the enhancement of invasive packing material,resin, improved liquidity resin; 
6.an auxiliary arc surface quality improved global andcomponent, make product surface smooth; 
7.does not affect the curing characteristics ofthe resin, without changing the application period mixed resin, does not affect the physical and mechanical properties of products, does not affect the products of weathering resistance.

The release agent selection:
The release agent is to be directly added to the resin, it is compatible with lresin, but that is not compatible with the cured resin, under certain processing conditions of temperature, diffusion from the matrix resin pultruded into the curing product surface, forming a layer of isolation membrane between the mold and product, to release effect.
The release agent are generally phosphate, phosphoric acid, stearic acid salt eggs,triethanolamine oil etc..
With stripping effect of zinc stearate is better. Because the resin viscosity, directly addingpowdered zinc stearate is difficult to stir, and stearic ester zinc loose, large volume, air entrainment is more, resulting in more resin bubble. So before you use it, usually inaddition of crosslinking agent zinc stearate, make it become the batter evenly, and thenadded to the resin. CRTM (Continuous Resin Transfer Molding Pultrusion Process)

In addition, the raw material storage tank and mold temperature control is also very important.
Continuous resin transfer molding pultrusion process has the following advantages:
1. Glass fiber fully saturated, FRP products in the production will have little micro bubble content and excellent electrical properties;
2. For the resin system and the atmosphere easy isolation, performance of the product is not easy to be influenced by the environment;
3. Resin for injection maintains the same characteristics;
4. Easy to get transparent products, the product defects (such as inclusion, knotyarn) are easy to find and eliminate.

Fiberglass Pultruded Profile Samples With Peel Ply

Our factory has tested two kinds of profiles with peel ply. We use peel ply with the highest heating temperature 220℃. The 1st one is fiberglass pultruded u profile peel ply off and it's painted directly, the 2nd sample is frp u profile peel ply off but with puttying before painting. Test result is: there are peel ply stripes on the surface of the 1st fiberglass u profile sample, but the surface finish of the 2nd sample with puttying before painting process looks much smooth and noble.

Fiberglass pultruded profiles for fencing project

There are many materials for our choice when we are going to purchase and install fence. Some general fence materials include: wood, steel, bamboo and fiberglass. 
And prices are various based on different material and design. Wooden fence is relatively less expensive, but high quality cedar fence price is also expensive. Vinyl and fiberglass fence has even color and looks more beautiful and noble. The joint of wood fence is more easily so the installation of small simple fence is very convenient. Vinyl fence post strength is not as good as fiberglass post, so sometimes aluminium profile will be used as internal reinfrocemed profiles.
Fiberglass pultruded fence has been used in commerical and residential application. Most fiberglass fencing project of Unicomposite Technology is for commerial application because of it's obevious advantages: light weight, never rust, non-corrosion, lower matintenance, etc.
The standard fiberglass fence post dimensions are: 50*50mm, 100*100mm fiberglass pultruded square tubes, 50mm~300mm diameter fiberglass round tubes, and the general wall thickness of fence post is 3.0~12.0mm according to different applications. Some customers may require the assembled fence panel, which will increase some shipping cost, but you'll save much labor cost when the container arrives.

Fiberglass Pultruded Handrail

As we all know, fiberglass pultruded handrail can be manufactured to be a variety of colors. The common colors are yellow and green. Other colors such as white, red, blue, etc also can be achieved at your request. The color is not easy to fade because anti uv agents has been added in the formulation, painted is not required, and it has characteristic of self-cleaning. Besides the beautiful appearance, color on the pultruded handrail has funtion of warning.
The difference of handrail main supporting materials are the large or small size of round tube, square tube, rectangular tube, I beam and angle profile. And the main difference of handrail design is connectors. General types are pipes tee(T), cross connectors, general base, ribbed base, cap, elbow, 150° elbow, 60° elbow, etc. Some larger and more special connectors also can be offered according to our customers design.
 
Fiberglass pultruded profiles&joints and decking system can be assembled to be handrails and used as stairs guardrail, platform and sidewalk guardrail, residential&villa guardrail, garden fence, oil operating platform and coast guardrail. Pultruded Solid Rod / Fiberglass Rods

Pultruded Solid Rod: The smallest diameter we can pultude is 2.0mm, which is very easy to be bended. The largest diamter of solid round rod we've manufactured is 48.8mm, the high fiberlgass roving content makes the solid rod have much stronger longitudinal and transversal strength, so it's ideal structural profile to be tool handle, sports goods and reinforcement profiles in building construction. The surface finish of solid rod can be extremely smooth so it won't harm your hands without gel-coating.

Fiberglass Pultruded Tent Pole

There are two kinds of popular tent pole on the market, fiberglass tent pole and aluminum pole, we should be familiar with their properties when choosing the suitable tent pole.
